What rights are there?
Human rights encompass many aspects of a person’s life. Their purpose is to enable everyone to live a decent life.
Therefore, they include regulations on the ability of a person to survive, including food and shelter, on a person’s right to their innermost thoughts and beliefs, on protection for families, freedom from torture and slavery, on the right to education, freedom of expression and on the right to participate in national governance. The international conventions on human rights therefore contain a long list of rights. You can read about several of these rights on these pages. The list of human rights is not intended to be exhaustive.
